Painter of the Evening Guidelines
Painter of the Evening Sign Up:
This activity will be part of our program at our in-person General Membership Meetings which are held twice a year, usually in April and October. Painter of the Evening (POE) will be announced in the flyer that will be sent to Members prior to the General Member Meeting. If you are interested in participating, contact the POE coordinator listed to sign up. Only 10-12 artists can participate due to space limitations.
Requirements:
Participants MUST be a current member of DPAA. Must be your original work, not from a photo or workshop, art class or instruction. It must have been painted in the last 2 years. Once you have won a ribbon in Painter of the Evening, you may not enter again for that year. If you did NOT win a ribbon In April for the current year, you may enter again in October.
All media are welcome.
Framing Requirements:
Paintings may be displayed framed or unframed. Watercolor: Unframed watercolor paintings on paper must be matted with a foam core backing and placed in a clear acetate envelope. Framed paintings larger than 16x20 should have Plexiglas rather than glass. For Painter of the Evening: we will also allow paintings on canvas and cradle board (no minimum depth for POE). NOTE: for any of our exhibitions, canvas depth less than 1.5” must be framed.
Voting:
Voting will take place at our in person General Membership Meeting. There will be ribbon awards for 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Honorable Mention. Member participants will need to be present as Awards will be given out that evening. Members present will vote for their “popular choice” in a secret ballot. Only members may vote…a ticket will be given at Check-in.
