Competition Rules and Registration

 

1. BOUNDARIES: The Geographic boundaries of the Quick Draw Competition are: Within one block  of the Old Town Artisan Studios Campus.

2. 8:30 – 9:30 AM: Artists may choose their site and set up before the competition officially begins at 9:30 AM. A registration table will be manned beginning at 8:30 AM where artists must have blank substrate stamped and pick up their title and price label.

3. 9:30 – 11:30 AM: Artists begin to create en Plein Air at 9:30 AM at which time a signal    will sound. The artists must start with nothing pre-painted or pre-drawn and will create the Quick Draw artwork only during the Quick Draw time frame. Mediums accepted are watercolor, oil, pastel and acrylic. All artists must finish creating their artwork by 11:30 AM at which time a signal will sound.

4. 11:30 – 12:00 PM: Paintings will be arranged on artist provided easels for public viewing and sale.

5. 12:00 – 1:00 PM: Voting will take place by the public for the “People’s     Choice” awards.

6. Awards reception: A reception will be held on the grounds 1:00 -3:00 PM at which time the votes will be tallied and awards presented.

1. SALE: Each Quick Draw artwork must have a title and price and is required to be available for sale. Old Town Artisan Studios will take a 50% commission from each work that sells. Transactions will be handled by Old Towne Artisan staff.

 

To pre-register, go to www.desertpleinair.org and pay $25 or on the day of the event bring this completed form and pay $35 to Desert Plein Air Association (DPAA)
